For over 70 years the Planet drop-down seals have been eliminating the need for thresholds, so providing a barrier-free seal at the bottom of doors. The birthplace of our seals was in the carpenter’s shop W. Jaggi und Söhne in Zurich. The first Planet dropdown seals for doors were custom built with care and precision and quickly evolved with practical experience.

This evolution resulted in the seals rapidly being adopted by ingenious carpenters, exploiting an unfulfilled need in the market. The production of Planet drop-down seals has finally been sourced out and sold in 1998.

The setting up of Planet GDZ AG in Tagelswangen, Zurich, came from a change in ownership in 1998 and the innovative managers René Gyger and Andreas Dintheer continue the evolution of this successful business.

Planet GDZ AG is always developing new, special versions of drop-down seals and produces them in Switzerland for world-wide delivery. «As a Swiss producer of highquality, drop-down seals, market proximity is very important to us so that we can develop solutions that respond to our customers’ needs.»

With the comprehensive Planet finger protection range, newly launched in 2016, the company has opened up a new market segment and another, successful chapter of its history. Planet Finger Protection protects your fingers from painful crushing injury on the hinge side of doors.

Planet GDZ AG was integrated into ASSA ABLOY in July 2018 under succession plan and Marco Slongo was appointed branch manager in Tagelswangen.

In May 2020, Planet GDZ AG was be renamed ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG with retroactive effect from 1 January 2020. The established and patented products from Planet will be continued in the product range under their existing product names.
